Estimation of the Electronic Efficiency of a Gyroklystron Amplifier

چکیده
In the present paper, a generalized self-consistent single mode linear analysis of gyroklystron has been presented. The analysis has been used to estimate and optimize the electronic efficiency of the gyroklystron device. The efficiency contours, necessary for the preliminary design of a gyroklystron, have been drawn by solving the coupled equations using Runga-Kutta method for the various device parameters. Using these efficiency contours, the electronic efficiency of an experimentally reported Ka band gyroklystron operating at the fundamental harmonic mode has been estimated. The results obtained from the present analysis have been found in match with the reported experimental values within 10%. The present analysis is generalized in nature and would be useful for the initial design of the gyroklystron amplifers of any desired frequency and power.

Experimental Investigation of a W-Band Gyroklystron Amplifier
A four cavity W-band gyroklystron amplifier experiment is currently underway at the Naval Research Laboratory. The gyroklystron has produced 67 kW peak output power and 28% efficiency in the TE011 mode with a 55 kV, 4.3 A annular electron beam. The full width half maximum (FWHM) bandwidth is greater than 460 MHz. Small signal and saturated gains of 36 dB and 29 dB, respectively, have been obser...

The development of a 10-kW average power, 94-GHz gyroklystron amplifier is described. This average power was obtained with 11% radio frequency (RF) duty factor and 92-kW peak power in the TE01 circular cavity mode. The instantaneous bandwidth was 420 MHz, and the efficiency was 33.5%. Low-duty-factor testing also yielded a peak power of as much as 115 kW with 600-MHz instantaneous bandwidth. Th...
متن کاملHigh power operation of an X-band gyrotwistron.
We report the first experimental verification of a gyrotwistron amplifier. The device utilized a single 9.858 0Hz, TED&z cavity, a heavily attenuated drift tube, and a long tapered output waveguide section. With a 440 kV, 200 — 245 A, 1 ps electron beam and a sharply tapered axial magnetic field, peak powers above 21 MW were achieved with a gain near 24 dB. Performance was limited by competitio...

Background and Objectives: In this paper, a new design strategy was proposed in order to enhance bandwidth and efficiency of power amplifier. Methods: To realize the introduced design strategy, a power amplifier was designed using TSMC CMOS 0.18um technology for operating in the Ka band, i.e. the frequency range of 26.5-40GHz. To design the power amplifier, first a power divider (PD) with a ver...

Abstract- A novel low-voltage two-stage operational amplifier employing resistive biasing is presented. This amplifier implements neutralization and correction common mode stability in second stage while employs capacitive dc level shifter and coupling between two stages. The structure reduces the power consumption and increases output voltage swing. The compensation is performed by simple mill...
